My Favorite Cozy Mystery Settings

What is a setting? The time (past, present, or future), place, and environment a story takes place. It can be real or fantasy or a combination of both.

  • Small Towns
  • Big cities with community feels
  • US especially Midwest (Michigan, Minnesota, Indiana, etc.) and Northeast (Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, New York, etc. )
  • Libraries (public, college, etc.)
  • Near bodies of water especially Lake Michigan and ocean and bays
  • Lighthouses
  • Farms (Christmas Tree, Maple Syrup, Fruit, etc) and Cranberry Bog
  • Present Day
  • Real not fantasy

What are your favorite cozy mystery settings? I’d love to know. Please leave a comment.

      1. lol – didn’t mean to build up the suspense, even if we are talking mysteries. The Jude and Audie West Mysteries, by me, Laurie Alberswerth. Book 1, BONES & BLOODLINES, released last year, as did Book 2. Book 3, KIN & CURSES is hot off the presses, having released Aug 1. More adventures of Jude and Audie to come!

      1. Nice! What is your favorite cozy mystery series that takes place in the South and your favorite cozy mystery series that features a fashion related business? I’ve only read a few Southern cozies and I’ve haven’t read any fashion related cozies.
