Series Review – The Flower House by Jess Dylan

Sierra Ravenswood moves back to her hometown of Aerieville, Tennessee after a brief stint in Nashville trying to get a musical career started. She takes a part time job at the local flower shop where she worked in high school and her boss takes an unexpectant leave. This series has a lot about flowers and very little about music so be aware of that.

I really enjoyed this series. It was interesting getting an inside view of the ins and outs of the flower business. There are the murder mysteries in each book but there is also the mystery of her boss who has taken an unexpectant leave. All of the mysteries really had me wanting to know more trying to solve them. All of the books in this series were page turners. I loved the characters and setting. Lots of quirky but likeable characters like Granny Mae and Calvin. There is a Corgi named Gus that will melt your heart. The author is an environmental lawyer which definitely comes through in the mysteries. I hope there are more books in this series as I would definitely continue and I highly recommend it!

Haunted Harmony Mystery: Key To The Castle – Hallmark+ Mystery Movie Review

Musician Gethsemane Brown goes to Ireland to teach music in a private school. The house she’s rented is haunted by a ghost Eamon that only she can see. He needs her help to solve his and his beloved’s murders. At the end, Gethsemane Brown is asked to help other ghosts cross over. This is a great movie series to watch in October for the light paranormal vibes. I haven’t read the book series. I prefer to watch a movie about music so I can hear rather than reading about music.

In this movie, Gethsemane and Eamon have a new murder to investigate that involves a ghost hunters filming crew. I don’t want to say too much about this movie so I don’t spoil it. I will just say that the mystery is fantastic and the reveal is shocking. I highly recommend this movie and series!

True Justice: Eye For An Eye – Hallmark+ Mystery Movie Review

The “Justice Warriors” (a group of Law students) are back to right wrongs in the justice system. This case takes place in the Winter so you may want to save it for the cold weather months. The case is intriguing and complex and the reveal is very satisfying. This movie is done in an interesting storytelling style which I really enjoyed and is worth watching for that alone. Also, there is some follow up from the first movie that I really appreciated. I highly recommend this movie!

Hallmark Mystery Movie Review

Best Served Cold: A Hannah Swensen Mystery – Hallmark+

In this movie, Hannah gets involved with two mysteries. There are some interesting new elements in this movie not just the two mysteries but also you get to see Dolores as a PI, Chad in the courtroom, and Hannah get involved in ways that are different than all of the other movies. Chad secret gets revealed to Hannah in this one. Also, there is lots of cat action too. Moisha is in this one a lot. Plus, count how many cat tops Hannah wears in this one. This movie is not to be missed!

I recommend this movie just make sure you have a Chocolate Cheesecake and coffee when watching! Based on the book Triple Chocolate Cheesecake Murder by Joanne Fluke.

Favorite Series Spotlight

Favorite Series Spotlight – Nick and Nora Mysteries by TC LoTempio

The two main character Nick (a cat) and Nora Charles (the Main Sleuth) are a reference to The Thin Man movies. There are some Thin Man spoilers in this series.

Nora Charles is a former Chicago Investigative Reporter that moves back to her hometown in California after her mom’s death to run her deli.

Nora and Nick don’t know each other at first but their meet cat is so cute that it’s sure to make you want to keep reading.

There are great mysteries in each book that are solved by the end but there is an overarching mystery spanning many books involving Nick.

Nora is a likeable character that draws on her experience and contacts from her Chicago days to help get to the bottom of the mysteries while still running her mom’s deli and writing for an online magazine Noir. She has a lot of character development throughout.

Nick is my favorite cozy mystery cat character. He loves to spell out clues with Scrabble tiles and loves to get his paws dirty at the crime scenes.

The writing is wonderful. The mysteries, the characters and there relationships, and Nick seems very much like a human. This series has both funny and serious moments.

I highly recommend you check this series out!

Author Spotlight

Author Spotlight – Krista Davis

Cat

Krista Davis is one of my favorite cozy mystery authors. I’ve read two of her three series in their entirety and loved them. I love the way she writes characters and the setting. It makes me want to live in these cozy mystery series. I highly recommend trying her books out.

Paws and Claws

This series is amongst my favorite cozy mystery series. It’s the cozy mystery setting I’d most like to live in. I did email the author to ask if it’s a real place and sadly she said no but I still think she’s keeping a secret! I love the way the companions and setting are revealed in the first book. It made me want to read the rest of the series as fast as I could. This author writes interesting, likeable characters and a fantastic setting. The animal companions are a plenty and are also written very well. The mysteries are always interesting. This is a great cozy mystery series for foodies as delicious food is always mentioned. There are holiday themed books too. I highly recommend this series!

Pen and Ink

I was apprehensive about reading this series since coloring isn’t a hobby of mine and the setting of Washington DC isn’t a small town. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I loved this series. The characters, setting, and mysteries are top notch. I especially love how the main character draws the clues to the mystery being a coloring book artist. That is very unique for a cozy mystery. It’s a very bookish and creative series. Also, Mr Dubois gives me life. If you know, you know! I highly recommend this series!

Domestic Diva

I’ve only read the first book in this series and will be continuing. This is different from the other series but is done in a similar writing style. Great mysteries and characters, a fantastic setting and delicious food, and a wonderful animal companion. There are holiday themed books too. All the things I love in a cozy mystery series. I can’t wait to continue!
