2025 New Releases

New Release Cozy Mysteries I Read in July and August 2025

The author said before that he was ending the series at book 17 (this one) and I hope that is not the case. Both because I love the series and because they weren’t in Athena with all of the regular characters. This book takes place in Ireland and was and location and history. Charlie, Helen Louise, and Diesel are the only ones from Athena in this book. I enjoyed trying to puzzle out the mystery and had a slight heart attack in Chapter 24 with something that happened. I hope there is a book 18 in this series in Athena!

Great start to a new cozy mystery series. I like the main character. We find out a lot about her in the first books and some secrets she’s keeping. Her friend Zane and cat Poe are great characters too. I kept trying to figure out the mystery the whole time and the twists and turns kept me wanting to flip the pages. Since the bookshop is the crime scene it doesn’t open until the end of the book. I can’t wait to see where the author takes this series. I will definitely be continuing.

I enjoyed the mystery. I didn’t trust anyone. Many people seemed like likely suspects. There was a lot of family drama on both Carly and Ari sides. It was too much for Carly and almost too much for the book. Although, I did like to see family and friends working together to help and support each other to make each others lives better. The reveal was surprising and the ending was perfect! I definitely made a few grilled cheese while reading this as always even though it was a quick read for me.

More of everything will love in this series – great mystery with secrets revealed, Maddie and her humor (I laughed a lot with this one), Baby, Michael, the Baker Street Irregulars, the Admiral, Trooper Bob, and yes Aunt Octavia. It was wonderful and I read it in one day!

This book has two mysteries. The usual murder mystery and another more personal mystery. This book definitely should have trigger warnings. There are hard topics in this one so know that going in. I really liked how the Cozy Caper Book Club all worked together to solve the murder. There wasn’t enough Belle in this one.
