Ally Winters a young veterinarian that is starting over after a failed engagement and practice partnership goes back to her hometown of Willow Bluff, Wisconsin (near Lake Michigan). Her grandfather Oscar who is a true crime fan helps her solve the cases.
I really enjoyed this series. It was interesting getting an inside view of a young veterinarian starting her practice in a small town. There are plenty of vet scenes (sensitive readers check out trigger warnings) along with sleuthing out the mysteries. There is also some humor in the series usually involving her grandfather. There is one thing he does a lot that had me cracking up each time. The mysteries had me on the edge of my seat to try to solve them and I loved the characters and setting. I hope there are more books in this series as I would definitely continue and I highly recommend it!
