Favorite Series Spotlight – Cats In Trouble by Leann Sweeney

The main character is Jillian Hart and she has three cats named Syrah, Chablis, and Merlot. It takes place in Mercy, South Carolina. In the first book, Jillian’s cat Syrah is missing. This starts out the mystery and Jillian meets some people that end up being important to her.

Jillian Hart is a very likeable character that always sees the best in everyone and fights for all of the cats that are in trouble. I definitely strive in my own life to be more like Jillian. Plus, she loves cats and volunteers at the local animal shelter. I enjoyed that her BBF is younger than her. You don’t see that a lot in cozies. These are fantastic mysteries that keep you on the edge of your seat and there is wonderful character development throughout the series with many of the characters. Also, there is a great “villain” in this series, Lydia. She’s the medical examiner so she comes into the story a lot. You cringe when you hear that she on scene but you love to hate her.

This series ends upruptly but it is still wonderful and I highly recommend you it out!

Favorite Series Spotlight – Nick and Nora Mysteries by TC LoTempio

The two main character Nick (a cat) and Nora Charles (the Main Sleuth) are a reference to The Thin Man movies. There are some Thin Man spoilers in this series.

Nora Charles is a former Chicago Investigative Reporter that moves back to her hometown in California after her mom’s death to run her deli.

Nora and Nick don’t know each other at first but their meet cat is so cute that it’s sure to make you want to keep reading.

There are great mysteries in each book that are solved by the end but there is an overarching mystery spanning many books involving Nick.

Nora is a likeable character that draws on her experience and contacts from her Chicago days to help get to the bottom of the mysteries while still running her mom’s deli and writing for an online magazine Noir. She has a lot of character development throughout.

Nick is my favorite cozy mystery cat character. He loves to spell out clues with Scrabble tiles and loves to get his paws dirty at the crime scenes.

The writing is wonderful. The mysteries, the characters and there relationships, and Nick seems very much like a human. This series has both funny and serious moments.

I highly recommend you check this series out!
