Hallmark + Christmas Mystery Movie Reviews

Mistletoe Murders

Emily is new in a small town and opened a year round Christmas shop. She has two cats and is well liked in the community so she seemingly has an idyllic life except she has an intriguing past that kept me coming back for more. Season 1 and Season 2 end with a cliffhanger. It hasn’t been renewed for Season 3 by Hallmark yet so keep that in mind before watching. I personally think it’s worth a watch despite the Season 2 cliffhanger that we may never get answers for.

This is an original series on Hallmark+ which you can get on Hoopla BingePass (one credit for 7 days of unlimited watching). Each mystery is 2 episodes long and there are 12 episodes (6 mysteries). The mysteries are great and very cozy but with some suspense thrown in. Anyone that loves cozy mystery books and Christmas would love this series. I haven’t listened to the Audible Original audiobook series so I can’t speak for that if it’s the same or not.

Five Gold Rings

This mystery is sweet and heartwarming. Audrey’s grandmother passes away and leaves her with a her final mission. To find the owners of five gold rings she found before Christmas, a tradition that Audrey’s grandmother had over the years. With the help of a PI Finn, Audrey find the owners of each of the five gold rings and all of the heartwarming stories that come with it. This one is a Christmas mystery that is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit.

Mystery on Mistletoe Lane

Heidi take a new job as the town historian in New Hollow uprooting her kids and embarking on a new journey…and mystery. This is a wholesome mystery of historical proportions both in the town and in Mistletoe Manor. This mystery is sure to get you in the Christmas spirit and touch your heart.

The Christmas Quest

For those looking for an international Christmas mystery this is for you! An archeologist and her ex husband that is a Norse expert go on a Christmas quest in Iceland to find hidden treasure. This one has some suspense and twists and turns in it making it great holiday fun with a meaningful lesson in it.

Haunted Harmony Mystery: Buried at C – Hallmark+ Mystery Movie Review

Musician Gethsemane Brown goes to Ireland to teach music in a private school. The house she’s rented is haunted by a ghost Eamon that only she can see. He needs her help to solve his and his beloved’s murders. At the end, Gethsemane Brown is asked to help other ghosts cross over. This is a great movie series to watch in October for the light paranormal vibes. I haven’t read the book series. I prefer to watch a movie about music so I can hear rather than reading about music.

In this movie, Gethsemane’s brother comes to visit and finds a body. It’s up to Gethsemane with the help of a few ghosts to solve the case. I love the Irish setting and this one has a sea feel to it. Gethsemane and the ghosts make this a fun and unique movie series perfect for the Fall season.

Providence Falls – Hallmark + Mystery Movie Review

This movie series is based on a book series but not a tradition cozy mystery series. I loved these movies so much I wanted to share them with you. They are very reminiscent of a cozy mystery. They have a mystery that involves a historical timeline, a present timeline, and a surprising timeline. All of the timelines weave together to solve the mystery. The mystery is wonderful and so is the romance and the premise. I highly recommend this movie series and want to read the book series!

A Pie To Die For: A Hannah Swensen Mystery Hallmark+ Mystery Movie Review

In this movie Hannah’s mother Delores is in the hot seat since a rival of hers is murdered. Hannah, Andrea, and Delores work together to get to the bottom of this murder. There are some interesting relationship situations in this one. Also, we get to find out more about Lisa’s family as she is hosting a family reunion in town. I really enjoyed this movie and did figure out the killer in the end.

Jane Mysteries: Murder at Moseby – Hallmark + Mystery Movie Review

This mystery series features Jane DiSilva a nightclub singer in Paris turned PI due to an inheritance from her Uncle Harold – the Foundation for Righting Wrongs. Jane was reluctant to take the inheritance since she doesn’t know how to investigate or solve a case but with practice she finds that she better at it than she thought and she can provide closure and help others get justice. Jane works with a detective John Cameron on the cases. They are a great team and both believe in the cause. Jane’s Aunt Sadie gets involved in the cases in very interesting ways. This movie series is based on a Book Series. This is one of the four Jane Mystery movies on Hallmark+.

In this mystery, an old friend at their old college Moseby asks Jane and the foundation for help. He finds an old photo in his camera of what he thinks may be someone loading a dead body in a car. There are some flashback to 15 years before in this mystery which makes it a little different from other mysteries in the series. Jane goes undercover as a substitute theater professor to get her closer to the action to solve the crime. There is a really fun side character that’s in this mystery. I really love the mystery and conclusion to this one. I highly recommend the movies especially this one!!

Aurora Teagarden: A Lesson In Murder Hallmark + Mystery Movie Review

I loved the original Hallmark Aurora Teagarden series. It had exactly what I was looking for in a mystery movie series including a sleuth around my own age. I love it so much I didn’t want to give the new Aurora Teagarden series a try. I’m glad I did give it a try. It has Aurora, Sally, and Arthur in college and starting there careers. This new series adds a lot to the old series and all of the characters. To see where the characters came from. We rarely are given this chance. You also see the beginnings of Aida’s real estate business. This is a movie series based on the characters in the Aurora Teagarden book series but don’t have any books in the series for these movies.

In this movie, Aurora is at college studying true crime literature much to the chagrin of her mother Aida (still played by Marilu Henner). The mystery has many twists, turns, and suspects. The ending is surprised me and I’m sure it will surprise you too.

There are currently three of the new Aurora Teagarden movies out on Hallmark+ and hopefully there will be more to come.

Mystery Island: Winner Takes All Hallmark + Mystery Movie Review

Mystery enthusiasts are invited to an island to solve a mystery. There is a detective, investment banker, podcaster, real estate agent, and a mystery writer along with all of the staff putting on the mystery. No service on the island for cell phones or Internet. Someone will die but is it for real or not?

This was an enjoyable mystery full of twists, turns, and secrets. I highly recommend!

Reality Bites: A Hannah Swensen Mystery Hallmark + Mystery Movie Review

In full disclosure, I’ve never read the Hannah Swensen book series by Joanne Fluke so this is solely a review of the movie.

This movie is based on the Blueberry Muffin Murder by Joanne Fluke. A reality show comes to Lake Eden and films at The Cookie Jar. All is going well for the production and Hannah until the producer is murdered. I figured out the killer but I didn’t figure out the why but never fear Hannah did. This movie has an exciting reveal and conclusion that kept me on the edge of my seat. It also has a lot of humor thanks to Dolores Hannah’s mother who is as dramatic as ever. I definitely recommend this movie and series of movies on Hallmark +.
